Rafael Pabón
Rafael Pabón leads projects focused on systems and business strategies for financial, technology and
healthcare organizations. He combines information technology expertise with extensive experience in
sales, vendor relations, quantitative analysis and strategic management to help companies reach higher
levels of scale and profitability.
His background encompasses designing and implementing C-level systems programs for Fortune 500
companies and building sales and customer support systems for multinational companies. He also leads
technology strategy and performs due diligence for M&A and venture investors. Mr. Pabón has
consulted for senior executives at Morgan Stanley, Thomson Financial, JPMorgan Chase, Advanta
Growth Capital LP and Dover Corporation. Recent engagements include:

For the president of a wealth management division at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Pabón led a five-year
technology and operational outsourcing project to increase margins and enable higher-end client services.
The project encompassed requirements and process analysis, strategic sourcing and contract negotiations,
and a global software rollout. He coordinated over 150 team members across trust administration, data
center and IT functions. Mr. Pabón launched SaaS, enterprise portal, CRM and workflow applications
to fully integrate operations nationwide. The new financial technology platforms reduced direct and
allocated annual costs by over 45%. Throughout, he worked with senior executives to develop technical
strategies and infrastructures to meet business goals and ensure compliance with SEC, OCC, OTS and
FFIEC regulations.
As CTO of Loan Quorum.com, he oversaw the design and development of an international trading
system for syndicated loans, and led technical presentations to global brokerage firms. For several
venture capital firms and investment banks, he performed due diligence and advisory services related to
emerging hardware and software technology companies.
Mr. Pabón led the New York office and sold fixed income and derivative products for Barra
International (now MSCI), a premier global financial analytics firm. He performed detailed analysis of
customer financial and portfolio data and ran a series of client conferences and training sessions for
money managers and brokerage firms.
As a member of JPMorgan’s Strategic Programs Management Group, he led a team to evaluate and
select software and hardware systems and set global policies. He developed and delivered a “Leading
Edge Networking” series to brief senior executives on new trends in communications technologies and
the business benefits for their units.
At IBM, he sold complex communications solutions to global financial services firms, maintained client
relationships, and represented IBM at industry events. Initially, he was responsible for requirements
analysis, product development, and manufacturing processes for communications controller products.
He worked with vendors to adapt sophisticated military industry design and manufacturing techniques
to enhance product features and reduce costs in private industry.
Mr. Pabón holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, with concentrations in
investment analysis and business strategy, and a BSE from Princeton University in Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science, where he was the recipient of the Manfred Pyka Memorial Physics
Prize. Mr. Pabón has served on the boards of the MIT Enterprise Forum of New York City and the
Stanford Business School Alumni Association.
